President Coriolanus Snow is a fictional character played by Donald Sutherland in the movie series The Hunger Games. President Snow is the ruthless dictator of Panem and lives in the Capitol, where he rules over each of the 12 districts with an iron fist. He came to power through birthright around 20 years after the end of the initial rebellion and holds the Hunger Games each year in which 1 boy and 1 girl from each of the 12 districts must fight to the death in an arena for the Capitol's amusement. However, not every Capitol citizen likes Snow, and many have plotted against him. In the book Catching Fire you discover that President Snow has murdered many of his enemies by poisoning them, and that he is able to get away with it by drinking both the poison and then the antidote himself. One such person President Snow threatened to kill was Katniss Everdeen's close friend Gale Hawthorne.
At the end of Catching Fire President Snow is put on trial and convicted of the murder of several high-profile Capitol citizens, being sentenced to death by the hands of Katniss Everdeen.
